Had been looking blog hopping and have been amazed by the nice skirts and pants that other mothers had sewn for their cuties.  Although I did sew a few dresses at the beginning of the year, I don’t find them fantastic.  Hence, I put off sewing clothings and simply stick to other stuffs.

However, Ash is growing and is out growing her wardrobe and since we are on a tight budget, I thought it is time to start sewing some wearable for her.

I started with a pair of pants for her but it turned out a little too big and it looks like her dad’s boxers.

Then I went on to sew two pairs of pants for Aver and it turned out better.  So this particular fabric will be used for more tight pants.  I will try another one out for Ash.

And last night, I decided to sew a pair of 3/4 pants for Ash and that did not come out at all.  First, despite the fabric being very cute, after cutting it out, I realised the pair of pants may end up looking like jammies.  That is not what I intend it to be.  Second, I failed to put the pair of pants together.  Thinking that I had sewn three pairs the night before, I should have no problem with this pair.  WRONG! WRONG! WORNG! I kept sewing the wrong seams together and I took almost an hour sorting it out.  At my last failed attempt, I gave up on it.

So it was not fated to be a 3/4 pants, I cut up the fabric and sewn a skirt for Aver instead.  That turned out well.

So here are what I had sewn…

Here they are giving their wonderful poses.

Tonight, I will tackle the pants for Ash again!

We will be celebrating Children’s Day here in the sunny island on 1 October.

As a child, I always love this day… a day dedicated to the children whereby we can just be a child and totally enjoy it.  In schools, the teachers usually stop teaching for a day and let us all enjoy ourselves.

When I reached Secondary school and realised that as teenagers we no longer get to enjoy this special day, I got kind of groomy.  When 1 October came and little children got a day off school and enjoyed themselves, I felt totally out of sync for that day. I will be groomy whilst in class and dreamt of the possible fun I could had if I was a child again.

So, I decided that since I cannot enoy the day like a child, I can enjoy giving the little ones somethings to make it a happy day for them.  So here is what I did for Aver’s classmates.

Started with this:

Then I started experimenting and got one:

And after a long long time… I finished them!

I hope these will bring a bigger smile on the children.

Oohhh….. finally made it.

From these …

To this..

I will be making more of it as it does look nice and cheery.

Making more for the coming up Teachers’ day for Ash’s teachers and Aver’s soon-to-be teachers.

Anyone interested in ordering from me?

There is a certain little girl whose birthday falls on 28 June.

So, I started to work on a few things for her.

A coloured pencils roll… I must admit that I had miscalculated the measurement for the space for each pencil so the roll fall shot of a few coloured pencils.

Then, I did a notebook cover for her.

And lastly, a wristbag to put them in.

I also did some key fobs.  I did not have all the materials so I improvised.

Thanks for stoppibg by.

Let me know if you like them.

Yeah… end product of the ribbons I mentioned in the earlier post.

I tried to have them attached on hairclips but they looked out of place and I was kind of upset about it.

I thought hard how to rectify it even to the extend of looking for other kinds of hairclips but since it is not sold wholesale, they don’t come cheap.

Finally, I decided on hair ties..

So while Aver napped in the afternoon, I started on them… there are still more in the basket waiting.

And who else would get to enjoy the hair ties first…

Ash, Aver and my mum…

Sneak preview to what is brewing in my “studio” (how I wish I have one… ok, my table, floor… whatever, wherever …)

I have quite a bit of ribbons lying here and there so I decided that I should clear my stash of stuff before purchasing new fabrics, ribbons and what others I may fall in love with while at the craft shop (nope, I have yet to clear my stash and nope, I have yet to stop buying … ha… much to Superpig’s dismay.)

So I started work on these and am falling in love with the sweetness … but as always, my crafts always bear a little of imperfection and that frustrates a perfectionist (me… I am a perfectionist with very difficult standards to meet.)

Now, what do you think about the ribbons?

The final product will be completed soon… I hope.

Finally, I managed to get my hands on my sewing machine and got theses sewn up.

I love them a lot  they are not sewn to perfection, I sm still proud of them for a few reasons.

1.  I managed to sew zips.

I had learnt to sew them when I took up a dressmaking course when I was a teenager.  I hated the course not because I was forced to take it up but because of the teacher.  She decided that I was not serious enough for the course and was not interested in teaching me (Will talk about it more next time).  I ended up having to go to mum for help… and she did teach me but somehow it got a little complicated and I always thought zips are not easy to sew.

2.  It has my own personal tag sewn on it.

I did mention about having my own tag made and now I can have it sewn it on almost everything that I sew.

3.  I did four in a span of two hours…

It may not be fast in the eyes of expert sewers but it is fast enough for me.

4.  I may sell them…

What do you think?  Comments and criticisms are all welcome.

Yup, I finally got it done.

These are the sample and I already love it so.

Just sent an email to confirm production.

Now, I need to have some stuffs for it to be sewn on.

And then I may set up an Etsy shop but I am not very confident in selling my stuff and also I do not know how to do the shipping cost and issue…

Ash attends ballet lessons at her school and she just got her leotard and skirt and soon her shoes too.
Her ballet teacher is also selling the ballet bag that she had designed.
We decided not to buy it (not that it is not nice… actually it is a pretty pink) but instead, I will sew one for her.
Ash chose her fabric from the stash that I have and I set out to find a pattern.
Saw one on a recently bought Japanese pattern magazine.
Although it is rather pictorial with instructions, it was still quite difficult to decipher the pattern.
So I had to think it through in my head… oh… what a headache it caused.
Here is the end result… I am quite happy with it though.

Here is Aver modelling it… she likes it too!

I like my things to look cute, nice, pretty … whatever.

So I decided to make cover for my fifty-cents notebook which have the ugly blue cover.

Now, I like it so much… I will attempt to finish up my tasks just so that I can go to it to cross out my tasks for the day and also to touch and caress it.

Anyone would like one too?  I am thinking of making them for Ash’s teachers for Teachers’ Day … I have 4 months to get it done.
